Episode 08: Hey!

Hey.
You know we humans have a sixth sense, right?

That thing we brag about -
intuition.
Gut feeling.
A way of knowing what’s coming before it arrives.

We’ve built poems around it.
Mystic books.
Spiritual frameworks.
We say it makes us wise.
That it separates us from everything else.

But when I look at you -
tucked beneath that coat,
barely moving,
not watching me,
but somehow… knowing -

I start to wonder.

What if we built all that
because we never really mastered the first five?

We don’t listen like you do.
Not to footsteps.
Not to silence.

We don’t sense tone like you do.
The tremble in a breath.
The pause after a sentence that should’ve ended with a smile, but didn’t.

You come closer
before I even know I’m breaking.

You rest your head on my foot
before I’ve admitted I want company.

You look away
not to ignore me -
but to tell me I don’t need to perform.

You are the only one who has ever
sat beside me
at my most unlovable
and made it feel like nothing needed fixing.

And still - we call ourselves the evolved ones.

We who filter our feelings.
We who need books to understand emotions.
We who walk past love when it’s quiet.

So maybe we do have a sixth sense.
But it’s not wisdom.

It’s just loneliness
dressed up as superiority.

And you -
you’ve been trying to show me the whole time:

That the only sense that ever mattered
was the one that stayed
when everything else left.

You.
